Frame of Mind

Created for the Found Grounds at Found Fest 2019.

Keeping with Found Fest’s theme of bringing the arts into nontraditional spaces, I wanted to incorporate elements from the multiple forms of art that Found Fest showcases. I did this by creating a piece in which art literally escapes the frame, cascading into a public space that is accessible for anybody to see. I wanted to incorporate traditional subjects of visual art as well as nontraditional subjects, including Alberta landscapes. The framework as well as the other objects incorporated into the piece are found and recycled. I chose to use these as a way of highlighting the artistic nature of everyday items because I strive to create and promote more sustainable art practices.
